The Peaceful Parent Project®  for Parents of College-Aged Kids

Orot’s Peaceful Parent Project is an immersive cohort experience for parents raising Jewish families. The course integrates Jewish wisdom, parenting teachings, and mindfulness practices to give parents concrete tools to impact their everyday lives. Through The Peaceful Parent Project®, parents are given the space to explore who they want to be and the support to reshape and deepen their interactions and relationships with their children.

This customized Peaceful Parent cohort is designed specifically for parents of college-aged kids, parents who are sending their children off to college at a time of great uncertainty about the campus environment they will be facing this fall. This past year, college students on campuses across the country had to navigate increased anti-semitism in the form of campus protests, hate crimes, and individual interactions which led many to feel scared and unsafe. While the Jewish campus professionals work to ensure the safety and well-being of Jewish students as they return to campus this fall, the Peaceful Parent course is designed to support parents as they say goodbye to their kids and navigate their own anxieties and concerns in a healthy way.

As a Parent Do You:

  •  Worry about how best to support your children while they navigate the issues on campus?

  • Struggle with figuring out the appropriate boundary between your own anxieties and those of your children?

  • Have difficulty managing your own fears while your children are away?

  • Have trouble knowing when to ‘step in’ and when to ‘step back’ and give your children space and independence?

  • Search for ways to nurture a relationship with your young adult child that feels healthy and fulfilling for both of you?

Joining this Peaceful Parent cohort can help you:

  • Foster a nurturing community of like-minded peers to share challenges, find support, and learn to navigate the challenges of parenting in this moment

  • Develop everyday skills and practices that can help you navigate anxiety and fear

  • Improve your capacity to pause and breathe before responding in the midst of a difficult moment

  • Enhance your ability to be gentle and forgiving with yourself as a parent

  • Give you a greater sense of connection to and nourishment from Jewish teachings and values

  • Practice tools that will strengthen your relationship with your adult child
