Rachamim: Support for Parents during Times of Grief and Fear

During this very difficult time for the Jewish People, parents are navigating through personal grief, anxiety, and sorrow, while also trying to protect their children and ease their fears. It is a heavy load to carry.

In this online gathering, we will offer support for parents by:

  • Providing space to come together, sharing meditation and breathing practices that can be used to ground oneself and settle one’s mind and heart

  • Sharing concrete tools to use with your children at home: what language to use when speaking with children and teens of different ages, distinguishing our current experience from the experience of our children, ideas for meaningful action for different ages.

Led by Rebecca Minkus-Lieberman, director of Orot’s Peaceful Parent Project and Dr. Aviva Levine Jacobs, clinical psychologist and Peaceful Parent educator

During these tumultuous times, many of us are grappling with feelings of grief, sorrow, fear, and uncertainty.

As Rebecca Minkus-Lieberman profoundly expresses, "We know that we are all holding so much grief and sorrow, fear and uncertainty, right now in our minds and our hearts and also in our bodies. It feels difficult to feel anything but heartbreak and hopelessness." Orot has consistently aimed to be a beacon of support for our community, providing Jewish wisdom to nurture the heart, mind, body, and spirit. Our goal has always been to comfort, heal, and nourish.

Rebecca, a mother of three, deeply resonates with the challenges parents are facing currently: “As the mother of three, I am right now trying to shield and hold and comfort my own children who know that the world is on fire and feel scared and filled with so much sadness. I know so many parents are in that same boat. Parents are looking for ways to talk about all that is going on with their children and looking for practices to soothe and calm their hearts as they work to soothe those of their children.”

With the weight of the world on our shoulders, how can we show strength and resilience for our children when we ourselves are drowning in anxiety and despair? Through the Peaceful Parent Project®, Orot has been aiding parents with teachings and tools centered on compassion, connection, and love.

We hope you join us
