Walking towards 5781: Heart-Opening Preparation for the High Holidays

Taught by Rebecca Minkus-Lieberman

Thursday mornings - 10:00 - 11:30 am CST

Aug. 20, 27, Sept. 3 and Sept 10

The month of Elul is an invitation to us to pivot and turn - to turn towards honest introspection, awakening and transformation. We do this inner work as individuals, and yet also in community with each other. With the new moon of Elul, we are called to wake up and shake off our hard patterns and habitual ways, to open our hearts to new possibilities and new pathways to meaning, connection, awareness and compassion.

In this class, we will use the words of psalm 27 - traditionally said every day during the month of Elul - as our guide, opening up the language and its layers of meaning. The  study of the text of psalm 27 will be interwoven with other forms of wisdom - Jewish and secular, ancient and contemporary, prose and poetry - and will include personal reflective exercises, group discussion and contemplative practices.

Open to all who are searching for a community with which to share spiritual preparation for the High Holiday season.
